This project leverages biomimicry to address the problems and confusion caused by lost data recorders from airplane accidents. ‘How might we let messages be passed or preserved after an airplane has crashed in the ocean?’

The scenario of searching floating ‘black web’

Using biomimicry design methodology, the project develops a ‘black web’ to replace the existed ‘black boxes’, which is light, strong, and flexible, could be found easily; also the damage of the web will not affect data reading.

‘Black Web’ structure is developed from spider silk at the molecular level which has multi-layer connection and M-shaped structure.
